Site Audit Setup
Setup of Site Audit Strategy
We start by hosting a site audit strategy session that defines:
- Your SEO issues and concerns
- The strategic fit of organic search within your digital marketing mix

- Your target market
- Your key competitors
- The search terms your site targets
- Major changes that have been made to your website
- Your SEO performance tracking tools

- How easy it is for the search engine spiders to crawl and index your web pages (called a crawlability and indexation SEO analysis)
- Technical SEO factors that are related to Google’s Page Experience update
- A review of SEO technologies being used, such as your content management system

Website Audit Options
The most popular website audit service we offer is the comprehensive audit. We don’t offer free SEO audits, though sometimes provide specific site audits that review a focused part of your search engine optimisation program only.
Free SEO Audits
There a range of paid and free SEO audit tools online. In our experience, free SEO audits tend to confuse more than help.
We suggest paying an SEO company or attending our SEO training courses to learn more about the perils of free search engine optimisation checkups before you go down this route.
Specific SEO Audit
Specific site audits focus on a specific aspect of your SEO strategy.
For example, they may focus on the technical SEO of your eCommerce store or a backlink off page audit.
These tend to work best when all other aspects of your SEO strategy are working well.
Comprehensive SEO Audit
Advanced SEO audits are the most popular and successful option as they analyse the following key SEO factors as synergistically rather than as individual pieces:
- onpage
- offpage
- technical

How does Google Shopping work?
Google Shopping is a Google Ads product. Payment is on a CPC (cost per click) auction basis, made each time a Googler clicks on your product image.
However, unlike Google Ads, Google Shopping uses two platforms: Google Ads (AdWords) and Google Merchant Center. Your product data (price, title, etc) sits in your Google Merchant Center and is received via a feed from your pages or a spreadsheet (see next section). Whilst your campaign settings are managed via the Google Ads interface.
SEO Checkups are just the start
The SEO audit is just a start. How you prioritise and implement the results from your checkup is what really counts.
Also, bear in mind, Google changes its search engine algorithm hundreds of times each year, which means your SEO company needs to audit your site frequently and adjust your SEO strategy to take advantage of any changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of FAQs related to SEO Audit Services.
An SEO audit is not a score of your website against a checklist of technical factors. A website SEO audit (also known as a site audit, website SEO report or SEO test) is a holistic process, undertaken by a search marketing expert, that defines short and long term opportunities to help you achieve your SEO goals and enhance the user experience (UX) of your website. It also ensures your SEO strategy serves an integrated role in your digital marketing mix. An SEO audit of your website is the most important building block for achieving better long term results and should
be regularly undertaken.
The cost depends on the size and complexity of your website or online store and your SEO goals. It also depends on which audit services you require. For example, a technical SEO audit would cost less than a comprehensive SEO audit that reviews your site against onpage, technical, off page and local SEO factors. As a price guide, a small SEO audit costs $1,000, a medium SEO audit costs $2500 and a large enterprise SEO audit would cost over $3,500. As each SEO audit is customised to your requirements, the audit is usually priced on application (POA).
An SEO audit is a critical task as it allows you to assess your organic search strategy against the latest search engine requirements, which
change frequently. A comprehensive site audit allows you to identify important risks, issues, opportunities and the strengths of your existing strategy. A site audit is an important strategic tool that guides the implementation efforts of your SEO strategy. Getting an inaccurate SEO audit is wasteful, whilst a good one has huge long term benefits.
An SEO audit can take 2-4 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the site that is being assessed. Bear in mind, the audit is only an assessment and a set of prioritised recommendations that still need to be implemented. The implementation of the recornmendations can take anywhere from 2 to 3 months to complete, if not longer.
There are a range of free and paid site audit tools available on the New Zealand and international market. If you search using terms such as ‘SEO auditing tool’, ‘site audit tool’ or ‘SEO analysis tool’, you will see a wide variety of auditing tools. Most SEO tools use autornated crawling systems to assess the more technical SEO elements of a website, which is only one component of a comprehensive SEO audit. For example, the SEO tool won’t assess whether or not your SEO strategy is targeting the right search terms.
Free SEO audits can be helpful when they provide you with insight on critical things that need to be fixed. However, free audits generally provide you with checklist of items that need to be changed on your site to improve SEO performance. Unless you are an experienced search marketing practitioner, the amount of information that is provided may be overwhelming and difficult to interpret. In our view, free SEO site check-ups can end up costing you more as they tend to lack the insight of a professional audit. Ironically, free and cheap SEO audits are also most often used as a sales tactic to hook you into a paid SEO audit.
